The food is a real plus here, with tasty local ingredients and a very good breakfast. It's also wonderfully quiet, surrounded by lovely countryside, and only about an hour from Caen. This was our third stay, and it's become one of our favourite places to stop while travelling through France.

The hotel's reply to our LOGIS review called us liars, which we found bitter and unprofessional. The photos speak for themselves, and we stand by what we wrote at LOGIS's request. We had a terrible stay in a room advertised as superior. The bedroom was in poor repair, and we had to ask for dirty bed linen to be changed. There was no real explanation for the room's condition, though the hotel did mention a medical condition affecting one of their children. We didn't see any blood or mention any, but we did see the child fall off the couch, so we thought it was important to report what happened. Two children were jumping on and off a couch in reception, and one fell and was crying by the restaurant doorway. Our concern was that service carried on for a while before the woman serving, who we assumed was their mother, came to help. We weren't surprised by the hotel's response given what we saw as a lack of care. In their reply, they said the child hadn't fallen, that the nosebleed came on unexpectedly because of an illness, and that they were sorry for treating their child before serving us. They said they would always put their children first, accused us of commenting without knowing the situation, and said they were glad never to see us again. We questioned whether the owners would have been satisfied in our position. This hotel is trading on LOGIS's good name, and we think the owners need basic hospitality training. I'm professionally qualified in hospitality, and saw no front-of-house knowledge on arrival, during our stay, or at departure. Perhaps the hotel needs a visit from a hotel inspector, preferably one who promotes LOGIS bookings.

The dining and breakfast rooms are finished, and the renovation has been a real success. The young, very pleasant couple moved here and began the work seven years ago, I later found out. We booked one night with half board. Dinner at 29 euros was a bargain, with generous portions and exceptional quality. My partner couldn't finish her homemade vanilla ice cream, so I did, and it was excellent. They also provided a menu in English. The bedroom was usable, but it didn't match the dining room's standard. At least the bedding and mattress were excellent. When we arrived, our Sat Nav had struggled to find the place, but the charming former farmhouse sits on large, well-kept grounds. We'll definitely come back.

The breakfast was excellent, and the Normandy countryside around the guesthouse is beautiful, with meadows, horses, cows, and old buildings. The rooms in the guesthouse were too small and uncomfortable, though, and had a moldy smell.

We had a spacious bedroom and a fabulous bath, and the owners were very friendly with great English. The food on our half-board stay was superb and such good value. Their house-smoked salmon was the best I've had. It's a peaceful little oasis in a pretty hamlet, easy to reach from the motorway. We'd stop here every time we travel to my sister's house in France. Thank you.
