Mercure Cannes Mandelieu

Our upgraded room was a really good size, with clean bedding and towels. I liked the extras too: a Nespresso machine, soft drinks, and the option to refill water bottles. Though the hotel is close to the airport, air traffic didn’t disturb us. It’s a little way out, but getting an Uber is easy, and walking into town is possible if you don’t mind the distance. I’d recommend it.

The rooms are modern, and both the service and food were good. Staff were friendly and welcoming, and there’s a decent swimming pool. You can walk to the beach in 10 minutes. The hotel is in an industrial area near an airport, a little away from central Cannes, so it seems better suited to business meetings than tourism. You’ll need a taxi or Uber to get into Cannes.

The location is very remote, in an industrial park, and there’s free parking all around, so don’t bother paying for the hotel parking. The restaurant was closed. Our room was okay in size but poorly redecorated, and the bed was uncomfortable. We called ahead to ask for a room away from the runway because the hotel overlooks the airport, but they didn’t do it. We were too tired to change rooms, which was pretty frustrating. At best, this is a 3 star hotel.

The staff were the only good part of the stay. The hotel is in an industrial estate next to an airport, with planes flying right overhead. The rooms felt very dated and tired, and the mosquitoes were something else. Altogether, a horrible stay. I’d never have believed Mercure would put its name on this hotel.
