Maison de Marquay

The couple who own and run the place were among the nicest people I've met on my travels. They made it feel warm and welcoming, especially for my son, who loved it. The fresh, locally sourced food was well prepared, simple, and reasonably priced. This isn't the Ritz, but it felt like a home away from home. We stayed three days, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The location worked perfectly for us: about 15 minutes from almost everything we wanted to see, and up high enough to be much cooler than the river valleys. The drives to and from the sights were beautiful and scenic each morning and evening. Thanks again, Joel. Hope we can come back soon.

We had a lovely two-night stopover while waiting for our nearby gite, so we could avoid travelling during black weekend. The owner was incredibly kind and accommodating. Our young kids, aged 5 and 2, loved the pool and mini play area, and he was so friendly with them. We ate at the restaurant both nights; the food was nice and reasonably priced. A lovely little hotel, and we'd definitely recommend it.

A lovely stay in a quaint country setting, with excellent hosts. The owners really go out of their way to make guests feel looked after, from restaurant suggestions and reservations to drawing maps so you can find your way. They even brought wonderful cheese platters and wine to our room. Here, you're genuinely treated as a guest. Perfect!

A good stay, with nice rooms looking out over the rolling hills. It's ideal if you have a car and want to explore Lascaux and more. The new owners were nice, though guests should be prepared to get up at 7 for checkout.
