Best Western Hotel du Mucem

I was without my luggage, and Ms Nadine at the front desk really helped me out. She pointed me to a good shop for clothes, found me an ironing board, and lent me an umbrella during all that rain. She was a real professional and gave excellent service.

There’s a clean room with all the supplies you need, plus a little balcony and a stunning view. The host was very nice. The metro is nearby, and there are plenty of restaurants around as well as a bakery open 24/7. You can walk to the old port and Le Panier in about 10 to 15 minutes.

The location is hard to beat, with the main station about 10 minutes away, a Careefour just a minute away, and plenty of attractions around. Check-in was quick, the hotel was clean, and Madame Nadine is a star. I liked the room, but the plumbing needs attention: water pressure was very low, and the temperature swung between too hot and cold water that wasn’t really available, both in the shower and at the regular tap. The room also gets hot, so if the aircon isn’t working you have to open the windows and deal with mosquitoes.

The rooms are small for what they cost, and the housekeeping noise was completely unreal. It kept me from sleeping past 08:30, and I was working nights. I woke up angry two days running. It honestly felt like they might be doing it on purpose. If you want to sleep in, this hotel is a bad choice. I’m going to complain at reception too. Stay away.
