Résidence Carpe Diem

It was quiet and pretty close to the centre, about 25 minutes on foot. The room had everything needed to manage on your own, and there was lots of equipment for cooking. The kitchen is small but very good. The room was clean. There’s a bar called "le flash" near the apartment where you can get a few beers.

I really appreciated the garden and the amenities, especially the washing machine and drier. They were a gift from God halfway through a fairly long trip. The tidy room had everything I needed, with comfortable bedding, and it was an easy 15-20 minute walk from the train. It’s close to the musée des beaux arts (art museum) and the natural history museum. Thanks to the hosts for a lovely stay in Marseilles.

It’s a safe enough place and our rooms locked properly. The location is quite close to lots of attractions, so getting around Marseille as a visitor takes little time. We didn’t have any major issues, but I wouldn’t call the place nice and wouldn’t stay there again. The bathroom was okay, except the shower cabin was the smallest I’ve ever seen. Its spring-loaded door closes inward, and it’s hard to get in or shut it without getting scratched. Even a very small person would struggle to shower, and if soap drops, you have to leave it there until you get out. Retrieving it becomes a whole journey.

The location is good and the price was good too, but they could do better. I’m torn about this place: the room feels like a den, and the mattress is easily the most uncomfortable I’ve slept on. Check my reviews, I’m picky about beds. The sheets and towels are so old and gray-looking that you’d think nobody had washed them. I don’t mind old things, but a residence service could make them feel fresh cheaply. Vinegar, salt, and toothpaste can get that long-standing grayness out of fabric.
