The terrace was covered, so there was no view of the sky, and it had become a dumping ground for old brooms and debris falling from above. The apartment was also so dark that the lights had to stay on all day. One bedroom was smaller than a cell: once the sofa bed was opened, there was no room to walk around it. We rented this cockroach-infested place through Airbnb, and it was in awful condition. The photos were misleading. There were torn-out wall sockets, dust everywhere, old socks under the sofa, and even the floor was crumbling. The sofas and table had cigarette burns, the heating didn’t work and the radiator was melted, and there was mold in the shower. Avoid it. The positive reviews are from family members, and it’s shameful to rent out a place like this. We didn’t have the exact address, otherwise we would’ve found the negative reviews before booking.

We contacted the owner and left the next day, even though we’d planned to stay for a week. The vacation was ruined. The apartment was freezing at night, with cold air coming through the closed windows because it was so poorly insulated. Two of our children have asthma and had several attacks. When we arrived on Saturday evening, the host didn’t greet us and nobody did an inventory. The apartment didn’t match the rental site photos. It was dusty and clearly hadn’t been cleaned. We found earplugs and a dirty sock under one of the sofa beds, and there were cockroaches. The floors were warped and uneven, creating a risk of falling. The induction cooktop was broken, and an outlet in one bedroom had been ripped out, with wires exposed where our children could reach them. The sink was clogged. The bathroom hand towel was stained with bleach and completely torn, the toilet bowl was warped, and the toilet brush was disgusting. Even the vacuum cleaner didn’t work. Absolutely avoid this unsanitary accommodation.

The apartment was freezing at night, and the broken vacuum cleaner was another problem. It was dirty when we arrived, with dusty cockroaches, and there was a dangerous exposed electrical outlet in one of the bedrooms. The owner wasn’t there for the inventory check, so he couldn’t verify anything. At this exorbitant price, it doesn’t deserve even one star. Absolutely avoid it.

It’s a typical spot in old Marseille, just a five-minute walk from the Old Port and the main restaurants and shops. The tourist office and Centre Bourse shopping center are nearby too.
