The location worked well since we had an early train to catch. Inside, though, it felt more like a budget motel than the nice, modern place in the ads. The rooms need updating. The bathroom is huge but bare and not very practical, while the kitchen has hardly any tableware and nowhere to hang a tea towel or coats. There's no decoration, the curtains are coming down, and the awful plastic mattress covers made us sweat.

The staff were nice, and they did bring us a fan, but it barely helped. We were on the sixth floor during an unusually hot spell, and with the AC shut off from the start of October, the room became stifling and the stay was uncomfortable. A lot of budget hotels in Europe seem to turn off their AC then, which is fine until the weather stays hot. They shouldn't advertise air conditioning as an amenity if it's unavailable for months.

Getting into town and to the train station was easy. The place was clean, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. For the price, it was extremely reasonable, and the facilities were good quality.

We only stayed one night and didn't use the kitchen, but the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The bathroom could do with a fresh coat of paint. The staff were helpful and friendly, and spoke good English. The location suited us well, about a five-minute walk from the train station and 10-15 minutes from the Old Port.

Our plane had to make an emergency diversion to Nice, so we got in at 5:50 am and asked if we could have extra time before checkout. The answer was "NO!!" Later, he rang our doorbell to say he'd forgotten to charge us the 4 euro tax. He had some nerve.
