Whenever I can, I visit the area to see my Uncle and Aunt, and I always love having a good meal at La Croix Couverte. The food, service and atmosphere are all great. I think it’s a family-run business, and I wish them the very best with whatever they do next. The lady there is lovely and so welcoming. She has a great sense of humour, and gets excited about recommending the right drink to go with a particular meal. Please ignore the photos. I had to add some to post this, but we didn’t actually take any. It’s really lovely inside.

There’s a story behind the name, so ask the owner about it or you’ll miss the fact that this has been a gathering place with distinctive signs. The place has been here since 1888, on the only National road linking Paris and Brest. It’s grown over time, and there’s a wonderful tenant now. For the price and history, you get a lot. Travellers know...
