Under new ownership since 2021. Sarah and Blake are such good hosts, and the home has everything for a fun, restful stay. The gites are lovely, the gardens are pretty, and the pool and hot tub are great. It’s a peaceful village, with nice walks nearby, and works well for kids and pets too.
The pool was a treat after a hot day out exploring, and there’s plenty to see nearby, from chateaux and monuments to other activities. We stayed in "La Longere Rose", a well-equipped, tastefully decorated cottage in a beautiful farmhouse with wooden beams and original details. Helen and John were friendly and happy to offer advice. We had a lovely holiday and will have to return to see more.
The owners gave us a warm welcome and even invited us to join the village Fete Nationale day. The gite was well equipped and the pool, with its loungers and parasols, was lovely. It’s quiet and handy for touring the area.
Helen and John Carroll are brilliant hosts, and the spotless gite has great facilities. They’ve made it feel like a home away from home. La Longere Rose is a beautiful, relaxing place in a lovely part of the Charante. Melle’s a lovely market town just a short drive away, and Poitiers is about an hour by car. It’s easy to reach by air or train too. I had a lovely time and would truly recommend it for a self-catering holiday. Merci beaucoup Helen and John!
The hosts were absolutely lovely, and the facilities for children were even better than we expected. I’d happily recommend the gites to couples or families.
