Le Clos du Meunier

Hikers, I’d look elsewhere. The chocolate fondant at dinner and the few pastries at breakfast were a plus, but the value for money was shameful for what we got. The grounds could be beautiful if they were kept clean, and the house needs attention inside and out: dirty garden furniture and window frames, torn sheets, barely clean blankets, and showers needing repair. We weren’t welcomed until after 6 pm, and there was no effort to chat. Dinner was just one dish, a family recipe of overcooked vegetable pasta risotto, with cheese and bread as extras. The hospitality seems unquestioned, judging by earlier reviews.

There’s a big living room and a games room, which are great when the weather turns bad. Outside could use some cleaning and better upkeep. Upstairs, the bedroom needs a blind or blackout curtain, since it’s impossible to sleep properly in the morning. I can only imagine how hot it’ll get in summer.

I’ve been happy to return to your cottage several times. It’s a magnificent, relaxing setting, and I really appreciate the respect for nature. We had a wonderful weekend, and all our guests were delighted. I find the earlier reviews very harsh. Walter has always been welcoming and helpful, and the place is beautiful. We’ll gladly come back.

We’ve already booked for next year. The owner was attentive, the catering was excellent, and we had a great time with friends in a welcoming place. We especially liked having separate accommodation for anyone wanting more quiet, plus the activities, including laser tag.
