Hôtel Menton Riviera

There were ants in the room from the start, and they soon got into our luggage and belongings. The staff knew about it but still did nothing. I’ve since noticed other guests reporting the same issue. Disgusting and completely unacceptable. The room was tiny for the price. The air conditioning was loud, ineffective, and didn’t work. We complained repeatedly, but the staff, who knew about the problems, took no action. It was unbearably hot, and street noise kept us from opening the windows.

The hotel is tucked away in the upper part of Menton. My room was clean, though a little dated. The parking area was full, so I had to look elsewhere and eventually found a space 1 km from the hotel. Breakfast was fair, not especially generous, but had basically everything.

The shower was very small and slippery, and the bins weren’t emptied during our two-night stay. The lift was broken, so we had to climb the very dangerous circular marble stairs. Staff offered no help. They were extremely rude. After five weeks travelling around Europe, this was our worst accommodation. We definitely wouldn’t stay again.

Never again. I stayed one night, on 5th of Sept. 2023, in room 101. The bed was comfortable, but the internet didn’t work in the room, so I had to work in the lobby. In the morning I found ants everywhere. They’d got into all my motorbike gear, including my boots, trousers, jacket, and helmet. I showed an employee and made a complaint at the front desk. Management only offered to refund breakfast. I uploaded 5 videos of the ants all over my stuff, but I can’t see them now. I don’t know if they got deleted.
