Les Citronniers d'Azur

The owner is lovely and very attentive, and I highly recommend this magnificent villa in the hills above Menton. The view is breathtaking. It’s about a 20-minute walk to the town center. The accommodation is clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated, with plenty of comfort for resting and relaxing. The jacuzzi is a real bonus!

The views from every room, balcony, and terrace were incredible, and the house was beautifully furnished in a modern style. It was also very clean, quiet, and perfect for relaxing. We’ll definitely come back. Thanks to our hosts for a wonderful vacation. They were so welcoming. Since it was our first visit, they picked us up from a central location to help us find our way. At the house, which has two parking spaces, they helped with our luggage and showed us around in detail. The villa has everything you need. On the ground floor there’s a kitchen with a microwave, dishwasher, stove, fridge with freezer compartment, and all the cooking utensils, plus a living room with a large flat-screen TV and sofa, a dining room with a table for six and another sofa, and a shower and toilet. Upstairs are two bedrooms, each with a flat-screen TV and a terrace or balcony, another toilet, and a large bathroom with double sinks, a shower, and a bathtub. Outside, there’s a table and chairs on the terrace, an outdoor kitchen with a large gas grill, four sun loungers, and a hot tub with a breathtaking view. There’s also a laundry room with a washer, dryer, and ironing board. Air conditioning is available on every floor. They provided plenty of fluffy towels and beach towels, and the beds were made up. You can walk to Menton’s old town by stairs or a path in a maximum of 10 minutes, but getting back takes good fitness because it’s about 200 meters uphill, or you can take an Uber, Bolt, or taxi for 12-25 euros from the old town. The drive to the villa is a little narrow and winding, but you get used to it.

We had a fantastic, beautiful, and thoroughly relaxing stay at Les Citronniers. Annie kindly drove halfway across town to collect us when we went to the wrong place for the key handover. The villa is a bit of a drive from the center, and the streets you need to navigate are relatively narrow. The private parking space, wonderful view, great hosts, and exceptionally clean accommodation more than made up for that. We also had a private grill, a private hot tub overlooking the sea, comfortable beds, two washing machines with detergent, and plenty of other amenities. A tip: depending on your pace, walking to the beach takes about 10-15 minutes, which can be faster than driving. The climb back takes around 15-30 minutes, so don’t let that put you off. We tried several beaches and highly recommend Plage des Sablettes. Nearby, there are affordable parking options, restaurants, bars, and shops. One section of the beach has fine pebbles and clear water, which is perfect for families.
