The food was average, but just about everything else made the meal a letdown. Ants were climbing over the baby high chair and onto our table, the decor felt dated and stuffy, and the prices were quite high. Service was awful and unfriendly, and the beer was flat. It seemed the machine had run out of gas, but the bar staff didn’t appear to care. Nobody spoke any English, which is only an issue if you don’t speak French. Eating here was the biggest mistake of our trip. Avoid it if possible.

The room we got on the third floor was already occupied when we opened the door. There’s no elevator, so after the confusion they moved us to a room on the fourth floor. The shower hose in that room was broken, and dinner was a mess too. Several tables waited two hours for their meals while incorrect orders kept going back and forth. They need Ramsey Gordon. The sea front location on the promenade is great, but the management and decor need a serious rethink. Even so, the problems didn’t ruin our stay in the Mers-Les-bains area. We just avoided spending too much time at the hotel.
