Hôtel Bristol Metz Centre Gare

The buffet breakfast is simple but does the job. The hotel itself is nice and conveniently close to the train station.

The location is great, close to both the station and town, and the staff were lovely. My room had a strong paint smell, maybe because renovations were going on, and it hadn’t been cleaned very thoroughly since I found quite a few hairs and bits of dirt.

The room was clean and comfortable, with everything I needed, though there was nothing fancy about it. It worked really well for a stop while travelling. The staff made the stay. The afternoon woman was funny and incredibly helpful. She walked outside to point out the bus stop and wrote down which route I should take the next morning. Later, when my cookies got stuck in the very heavy vending machine, the night person tilted it to free them, then went to the kitchen and brought me milk for a midnight snack. The morning gentleman was very kind too. We had a nice chat on the phone before I arrived, and I saw him briefly at checkout while rushing out.

If you care more about having the essentials than about design, this hotel has what you need and everything was working properly. It’s old, but well looked after. The location is perfect, and for an overnight stay I don’t think you’ll find a better quality for the price.
