Hôtel des Voyageurs

I was worried after reading the previous reviews once my husband had booked, but the reception was great. The room was tired, though spotless, and the bedding and towels looked like new. Secure parking was a bonus.

The host wasn’t around in the morning, so we left the keys in a letter box and had no chance to talk at checkout. The night before, my boyfriend and I had driven all the way from Paris to Millau, but we hadn’t checked the check-in time until late. We had trouble getting to the hotel, and with hardly any phone battery left, couldn’t contact anyone. When we arrived at 22h30, the door was locked and there was no staff or host. Nobody answered the number on the application. Luckily, the hostess at the hotel across the street and some of their guests helped us reach the host using a phone inside. He yelled at me aggressively, nearly refused to let us stay, and threatened to charge us for the night because we were late. He said he’d tried calling and had sent entry instructions, but I hadn’t received any missed calls or messages. My Booking details were correct, and I’m still waiting to find out if his message was delayed. After that heated call, he did let us stay, but wouldn’t give us the codes to park our motorcycle or enter the hotel. Other customers came to our rescue again and gave us the codes. It was probably the worst hotel experience of my life so far.

The reception was welcoming, and secure parking at the back of the building was handy. There was plenty of hot water. The shower may not win any beauty contests, but it works really well. Bedding and towels were spotless, and it’s a ten minute walk to the town centre. All in all, a good result for a reasonable price.

I came away covered in bites after my stay. They may have bed bugs or fleas, so it wasn’t a great experience.
