La Villa du Rhone

After a tiring few days in Paris and Burgundy, this place felt lovely and really comfortable. Our room was spacious, clean, and very nice, and Christine and Jean were great. Nothing was a problem. Wish we’d had more time to stay.

Such a friendly, welcoming place.

The Alps view made it feel like a proper holiday. I stayed one night in the "Palm Trees" room, and Charles gave me a warm welcome. The bed was really comfortable, so I slept well. A good base for a road trip or exploring the Lyon region.

The location and the view really are lovely, and the rooms are nicely decorated, though they look better in the photos. The place seems to be run on a shoestring, which is a real shame. We booked two rooms, one adult in each, for three nights on a business trip, and we know this kind of establishment. We were disappointed by a number of things. Our room hadn’t been cleaned properly: the bin hadn’t been emptied, and there were cobwebs and dust. The TV only worked sometimes, and its remote had no batteries. Charles had told us one remote was out of batteries, but even after we asked, they were never replaced during our stay. The pool robot was broken, and the shower was out of order. It seemed to have been that way for a while, though the owner said it wasn’t. There were also constant explanations for the problems, from blaming hypothetical cleaning staff to the pool robot being delayed. We were told there wasn’t time to replace the batteries. A piece of cardboard covered a window, and the sofa’s front bar was loose. The owner did offer a meal in a jar in one of the two rooms as a goodwill gesture. Just one meal, though, definitely not one for each room.
