BHôtel De Caen

We had a prepaid, confirmed booking, but the check-in kiosk said it didn't exist. No one answered the phone, and we were left outside at night with no help or way to get in. We're Ukrainian refugees. They took our last money, wouldn't let us stay, and are now refusing a refund while claiming we didn't show up. Absolutely unacceptable. Don't trust this hotel.

The room was tiny, with a TV around 17 inches and no blackout curtain. The shower and toilet were together in one plastic room, with a bad sliding door that didn't work. My key card also failed, though luckily reception was open and they fixed it. There were lots of trucks in the parking yard, so it was noisy. I could hear people walking, moving chairs, and using the toilet on the first and second floors. Breakfast was cheap and really bad. I wouldn't come back.

For the price, the compact room had everything I needed, and check-in was friendly. Getting to the motorway was easy. There was a lot of noise overnight from the nearby truck park, so bring earplugs.

The room was okay, about what you'd expect for the price, but the receptionist was very abrupt and could use better customer service. The walls aren't well insulated, so noise carries easily between rooms.
