Cabanes Espace Fouletot

We left without staying because I’d just had shoulder surgery and couldn’t manage the ladders or crawl into the bed. From a small platform, there’s another ladder to climb, and the gap above the bed is so low you can’t sit up. The photos don’t show how many ladders there are or how little room the cabin has. The bed rests on two slats, the mattress is very thin, and the finishes could use work. I’m not sure the setup meets standards. I’ve slept in treehouses that were cleaner, more comfortable, and safer to get into. My partner had booked it as a birthday surprise. I wouldn’t have gone if I’d seen the negative reviews beforehand. We had to find a hotel room instead, which made for an expensive weekend. We were only partly refunded for the reservation through booking. We’d also paid the gentleman 16€ per day in cash for breakfasts I didn’t want and never ate. The bread was kept in a plastic bag for both days, not fresh. My partner emailed him about refunding the breakfast money, and we gave him our address so he could send a check, but he never got back to us. We still haven’t received anything, even though it’s been since September 13th. I think the money may have gone straight into his pocket. Not cool. I didn’t want to give him bad publicity, but he didn’t reimburse us for the breakfasts, either. The cabins we stayed in the Vosges were very clean, with fresh breakfast bread served the same day. I really wouldn’t recommend these cabins. Avoid them.

It’s a different kind of night out, with a lovely natural setting and a chance to sleep under the stars. This isn’t a 4-star hotel, of course, but for one unusual night, it was perfect.

Coming back to the cabin in total darkness after supper in the village was funny. Facing the night made us feel so small. We spent the evening listening to the forest and fell asleep to owls, acorns, and drops from the trees. It’s an unusual stay with little comfort, but such a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thank you, sir, for letting us stay in your cabin. On Saturday, the gentleman welcomed us and explained everything clearly. The walk around the lake was lovely, especially with the autumn colors. The cabin feels like a complete escape and a chance to switch off. I highly recommend it, as long as you leave your comfort zone at home. 😀

Tucked into the forest beside a charming pond, this unusual place felt like stepping back into childhood and gave me a chance to unwind.
