Hotel Le Clos

The staff made us feel so welcome and were helpful and accommodating throughout our seven nights. Most guests seemed to stay just a night or two, but by the end we felt like family. It’s near the motorway but still in a quiet village setting, and we loved our room, the gardens and the pool. It isn’t heated, but once you get in it’s refreshing. The location worked well for visiting Beaune and nearby villages like Mersault, Pommard and Santenay. A few things could have been better, though they didn’t spoil the stay. We paid £160pn and were surprised breakfast wasn’t included. It cost 18 euros per person. We tried it one morning and it was delicious, but 36 euros each morning felt steep, so we went to a local bakery for pain au chocolate and baguettes instead. Our room had a bath with a handheld shower rather than a walk-in one. It wasn’t a real problem, though after a long, hot day a walk-in shower would have been nice. Some afternoons and evenings the pool area got busy and noisy with families. We’re a couple without children and often stay at adults-only places, so we’re used to reading quietly by the pool or in the gardens. It was August, so we expected families, but hadn’t imagined a small romantic guesthouse like this would be a place for children. One afternoon, a child at the residential property Nextdoor seemed to kick a football against the hedge beside the hotel pool over and over.

We stayed for two nights while visiting Beaune. It’s a charming place, a beautifully restored farmhouse with modern rooms in the village of [Montagny-Les-Beaune], about 4k from Beaune. You’ll need a car, though there’s plenty of free parking at the back. Breakfast was really nice and the staff were friendly. There’s no dinner, so plan ahead and reserve somewhere in Beaune. Wifi was available, but patchy in our room.

Breakfast on the outside terrace was lovely, and the property itself is nice. The room was large enough that I would have expected a king sized bed, and the one handed shower felt odd. I’d consider staying again, but would compare other places first. Solid value.

Just one night on my drive to south France, which was a shame because I had a fantastic stay and would definitely come back. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room was fantastic, and there was a good breakfast selection. I was also pleasantly surprised to find two Tesla branded electric charge points in the car park. I could charge my non-Tesla car overnight for free.
