Dali Hôtel Montauban

The Dali restaurant was only okay, and a bit overpriced, though the waiting staff were very friendly. Breakfast was average too. We had to go to the sister hotel next door, where there was no apple juice, the egg boiler wasn’t on, one coffee machine was out of service, the salt pots near our table had no salt, and the cutlery was dirty. Neither hotel bar opened before 6:30 pm. In our room the air conditioning wouldn’t go below 23°C, which was too hot for sleeping even in October. This didn’t feel like a four star hotel, three stars at best.

The hotel’s location was its best feature for us. We had a car, but could still walk to where we needed to be in under ten minutes. The staff were super friendly, too. Everything looked clean, bright, fresh and appealing. The power went out during the breakfast buffet on our second morning, but staff dealt with it quickly. We’d stay again. Montauban has plenty to offer, with good shops and lots of history. We booked two rooms for one night while driving to the south coast, arriving just before 8 in the evening. A smiling receptionist welcomed us and checked us in without any fuss. The rooms were spacious and clean, and the hotel still feels very new. The buffet breakfast isn’t cheap, but it’s well laid out, so go back for seconds and it feels worth the price. Five stars all round.

The hotel is average for an average price, and within walking distance of the historic town centre. Its restaurant feels pretentious, with medium quality food at an overpriced cost. Fine if you’re feeling lazy.
