Hotel Loysel le Gaucher

A great little hotel in a wonderful location, with lovely rooms. The staff were brilliant too.

We stopped for one night on our way back to the UK from the south of France, and wished we could have stayed longer. The village is lovely, and the hotel is a peaceful, beautiful hideaway near the citadel. Our room was comfortable and well appointed, with lots of thoughtful extras. The staff were friendly and accommodating with our children. Stefan made our evening especially enjoyable when we had a drink in the courtyard after putting the kids to bed.

We expected a three-star hotel and were pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful castle that felt worthy of at least four stars. The modern decor was tasteful, and our room felt cosy and inviting with its wood panels. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and just as importantly, very welcoming to children. Breakfast was simple but delicious. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

The location was lovely, street parking was free, and we got a charming welcome at reception. The room warmed up nicely with an electric radiator, though it wasn't attractive. The central heating wasn't working when we visited during unusually cold weather, just after the hotel had reopened from its January break. The separate toilet had no heat, which was uncomfortable. If steep stairs are an issue, it may be worth asking for a ground-floor room, since the stairs go up one flight.
