Inferno Morzine

A laid-back hostel up the mountain, with ski-in, ski-out access and excellent food. The chef's very good. They have après parties on Wednesdays and a Sunday BBQ smokehouse.

The Inferno was a really cool place, and I loved it. Skiing right to the door made the location excellent. It was well managed, with helpful, friendly staff and good food. My room was clean, and the feather duvet and pillows were very comfortable. I've always stayed in chalets before, but this mix of hotel and chalet life worked brilliantly. It's not a four-star place, but for the price and what you get, it's the best in the area. Check directly with the Inferno that they can get you down from the mountain if you have an early return flight. They're really helpful.

Dinner was amazing, with something different every day. The continental breakfast was good, though it could use a bit more variety. It's right on the slopes, and the staff know how to make things fun and entertaining. This is a great 18-30 hotel, though if you want to go into town at night, you have to book the skidoo 24 hours in advance. Cheap and cheerful, best suited to young adults. Thanks to the Inferno staff for a fantastic week.

Getting here means taking the lifts up, since it's on the mountain. But the beer and food are amazing, and this is probably the only reasonably priced place up there. Morzine can be expensive, especially on a winter sports holiday, so it's a real plus to find somewhere affordable.
