Residence Pierre et Vacances Electra

The sauna was another disappointment. It was listed as an included amenity, yet guests had to pay an extra €6 to use it, and as far as we understood it only fits about six people. The location was great, but the rooms didn’t meet the standard we expected. Our beds weren’t made when we arrived, which seemed very odd. When I made one myself, I found several strands of hair, and the floors were extremely dirty. I’ve honestly never seen anything like it. We’d specifically asked for two rooms with two queen sized mattresses and had been told that could be arranged. When we raised the issue, the staff were rude and unhelpful. One person said the rooms were fully booked and they couldn’t accommodate us, which felt misleading. The stay wasn’t worth it. It felt unhygienic and uncomfortable, and was very disappointing.

The apartments were new, spacious, and well equipped, with a great spot close to the slopes, bars, and shops. The ski room led straight to the slopes. The sauna and steam room were great, and preordering fresh baguettes, croissants, and pain au chocolat for breakfast was lovely. Arrival and departure went smoothly. Reception staff were friendly and professional, but we had a long wait to speak with someone. They took their time with each guest, which was nice, though it made the queue slower. The flat was a good concept, but felt a bit clinical and lacked charm. It also didn’t have a proper oven.

It’s not a hotel, and you shouldn’t expect one. For an upper midrange budget, it’s probably one of the best choices and clearly good value for money. The staff were great. The bed was a bit too hard for me, but otherwise I had a great stay. I’d recommend it.

We only managed to book the sauna for the very last day of our holiday because reception hadn’t told us it needed to be reserved in advance. It costs €6 per person, which is fine, but if we’d known the booking rules at check in, we could have planned to use it earlier. When we asked about availability, the reception staff were dismissive and unfriendly in French. They made no effort to help us find an earlier slot or any other solution. The poor communication and service made our stay at Pierre & Vacances Atria-Croisette in Avoriaz disappointing for a property of this level.
