La Bastide du Paradou

We had a very comfortable stay in this quiet apartment, set in a separate building about a minute's drive from the main hotel. Staff gave us clear directions and even a map. There was plenty of parking out front, and the apartment sits up a short flight of steps. Inside, it has an open kitchen and living area with a large TV, even Netflix, and two bedrooms. There is only one bathroom and toilet, which was the one downside. Towels, a soap bar, and body wash/shampoo were provided. From the balcony, we could watch the stars above the village, a lovely view. Breakfast in the hotel's beautiful garden had a good choice of breads, jams, and fruit, with fresh eggs cooked by the staff and coffee or tea. The food and view were lovely, if you can put up with the bees swarming around the jam. There were also two very cute tortoises wandering the garden. The traditional bastide is within walking distance of lovely Moustiers.

This family run hotel is managed by a lovely family, and we enjoyed our two breakfasts in the garden. The rooms were very clean by our standards, and it's cute that you can choose different themes and designs. Opening the window brought a relaxing garden view. The location worked well for driving between the lavender area and the gorge du Verdon, and Moustiers village center is a 10-minute walk away. The family cat Pépite was super cute too. We hope to visit again.

The location was great, close to town, and the setting was beautiful. Looking out the window gave us an idyllic mountain view. There were thoughtful touches too, with petals on the bed when we arrived and complimentary water each day. The stay was acceptable, but I wish I could rate it higher because a few things bothered us. There was a constant smoky smell coming from the bathroom. Also, there was nowhere to mount the shower head, so you had to bathe or hold it in your hand while showering. We found that very strange.

Those freshly cooked dinners, paired with lovely local wine that was surprisingly affordable, and breakfast in the garden with lavender in the air made this exactly the kind of place we wanted. It was our favourite stop on the whole trip, which is saying something. I’m almost a year late posting because our break had to end early, but the family who run the hotel were so understanding and welcoming. I hope we can come back someday.
