Hôtel la Cascade

We could barely decide what to order, the menu had so many appealing dishes made with local ingredients. The service was perfect, and everything we tried was delicious. Such a good dinner.

Breakfast was the bright spot, with plenty of options and some good quality products. The morning staff were different and friendlier. At dinner, though, I wouldn't recommend the meals, especially the vegetables and dessert. The hotel itself is quiet and well located, and my room was clean, if pretty average. What disappointed me most was the staff's attitude. They didn't seem willing to help or offer advice, saying they didn't own the place and didn't want to put in more effort than they were paid for.

The service was incredible, even with how busy they were. The waiters stayed on top of everything and were polite and patient with us three Americans despite the language barrier. We stayed for dinner and breakfast, and I'm sorry we spoke so little French, though I'm glad we could manage some German. Dinner came out promptly. The appetizers were amazing, something like shrimp lumpia is the best way I can describe them. My steak was cooked perfectly, and dessert was apricot cake. The portions were generous and beautiful, and you could tell the chef and staff cared about what they were doing. Breakfast was a tasty buffet with lots of pastries and fruit, plus ham and other meats. Truly wonderful, passionate, caring staff.

From the balcony, we had a great view of the river and the cliffs covered in trees. Our room was spacious and well equipped, with a nice bathroom and a small fridge. The hotel is pleasant, and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant menu was fine, and the friendly waiter helped us find delicious options for both a vegetarian and someone with a milk allergy. We recommend the house wine with its hint of cherries.
