The location looked like a handy base for our trip, and the website photos suggested comfortable rooms, so we booked for three. Arriving at 10 pm after a long journey, we found reception closed, though it was meant to be open until 9. We got checked in after calling the number on our reservation, only to be given a room that hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guest. After another call, we were moved, but that room was dated, poorly cleaned, smelly, and had very uncomfortable, low-standard beds. We were exhausted and needed to sleep before continuing the next day, but resting was difficult. Breakfast was okay if coffee, croissants, and pain au chocolat are what you like. There were a few other buffet choices, though I wouldn’t really call it a proper buffet. The hotel felt very old and generally filthy, so I can’t recommend it even for a one-night stop. The area may be a good starting point for the countryside and La route des Vins, but we just wanted to leave as soon as we could.

The setting is lovely, there’s free parking, and the staff are very polite. Our room was spacious, and we enjoyed the stay overall. The blinds wouldn’t open, so we couldn’t get any sunlight in, and the pillows were extremely thin. We’d expected either two double beds or four singles, but got two singles and a bunk bed, which wasn’t comfortable for us at our age. There’s a pool too, which I wish we could’ve used, but it was winter. We’d still recommend the place.

I was ignored at the restaurant for an hour. I also saw them treat Portuguese tourists the same way. If you’re not white, don’t bother coming here.

There’s plenty of atmosphere in this old, fairly large hotel on the edge of Munster, and it has its own restaurant and bar. The room was small but fine, as is often the case in France, though the bathroom felt too cramped for a stay longer than a few days. There’s no air conditioning, which might be an issue during a hot summer, but it wasn’t warm when we visited. We also saw storks on the roof and nesting in the garden.

There’s lots to do nearby, and the location is great. The hotel is good value, but the kitchen was badly equipped. There were four of us and it had just one glass, no cups, and no proper cutlery.
