Novotel Nantes Centre Gare

I’d avoid this hotel. In our suite, the central heating didn’t work and they supplied a small portable electric heater. The TVs weren’t working properly, the bathroom door wouldn’t close, and I wasn’t sure the carpet was clean. The design is very dated, with dark, low ceilings, and the maintenance hasn’t kept the overall condition up.

For the price, it was pretty good, and the hotel is close to the castle and city center. Our room was clean, though a bit old and small for a family of four. It was fine for two nights. Service was a little lacking, for example, nobody refilled the toilet paper. The nearby parking garage looked a bit shabby.

We really liked the breakfast, and the staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful. The car park is right underneath, and the old town is about a 10-minute walk away. There was one negative, shown in the photo. I mentioned it at checkout, and the staff said they’d get it fixed straight away. I’m surprised the room staff hadn’t noticed it, since it clearly had been there for a long time.

We only needed a quick overnight stay after a late flight the night before, and the hotel suited us perfectly. Check-in and checkout were very easy. Our family room had plenty of space and, though a little dated, was spotless. We had a drink and some charcuterie at the bar when we arrived. The staff were lovely to us, although the prices felt a bit high for France, still cheaper than back home.
