Hotel Boreal

The room was modern and spotless, though on the small side. That was fine for us since we were out most of the day. The bathroom looked modern too, but the shower panel was too short: water flooded the floor whatever angle we set it at, and there was no raised edge or barrier. The hairdryer was also very weak, almost weaker than my own breath. Breakfast was a highlight, with a good continental spread, scrambled eggs and bacon. The bread and pastries were especially good. Staff were genuinely lovely and accommodating. They had no problem with our request for a late checkout at 12:00. Hotel Boréal is very well placed, just a two-minute walk from Jean Médecin tram stop, which connects to the airport. I had a great stay.

The room was clean, and the location in Nice was great, but our stay at Hôtel Boréal felt pretty average. We were promised a double room and were given a single instead, which was disappointing. It was also very cold, and neither the heating nor the air conditioning worked, so we couldn't get warm. Renovation work was going on early in the morning and disturbed our sleep and comfort. Reception hadn't told us about it. The hotel has potential, but its communication and working equipment need improvement.

The breakfast was excellent, and having it included made this good value. The room was cleaned every day, and the staff were very helpful. It’s also a great base, right near everything.

At night, noise from the bars and cafés downstairs carries up, so keep that in mind if you’re sensitive to sound. The location itself is central and very close to a tram stop. I liked having a balcony, and breakfast was available. I’m sure I booked a rate with breakfast included, though, and was surprised to be charged extra for it at checkout. I clearly remember selecting breakfast.
