Gambetta, Comfort and Space in City Center

We booked three nights but had to cancel and check out after the first night. We'd called and emailed the accommodation several times about our stay and got no reply. The room had two single beds instead of the double we'd booked. The sheets were torn, and both towels were stained and dirty. The shower head was broken and too low to use properly. There was a bug smear on the mirror, and the bath and shower hadn't been cleaned, with hair left inside.

The staff were good, and the room was average in size. The location was good too, but during my six-day stay the air conditioning throughout the hotel never worked, and they didn't bother fixing it. In June's hot weather in NICE, that was a disaster. There was no ceiling fan either, just one table fan. In hospitality, what you pay for should be provided.

We stayed in a top-floor apartment facing the street, but didn't hear street noise. There was a balcony you could walk out onto, a well-equipped kitchen where everything worked, and good internet. The sofa opened into a double bed, with another bed and a shower upstairs. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, made us feel welcome, and helped us with a few things. We were happy with the stay and would come back. It's a good spot for families. The train station and promenade are each about a 10-minute walk away. Next door is a small but well-stocked supermarket with fresh fruit, and larger supermarkets are just a few minutes away. There are good bakeries in every direction, plus a reasonably priced restaurant across the street.

The website information was wrong, and the place didn't match its description. Service was very bad. The rooms were tiny, dirty, smelly, and very old. I really wouldn't recommend it.
