Hotel Paganini

The hotel is simple and pleasant rather than fancy, and all the staff were kind, especially the receptionists. There are plenty of restaurants and cafés close by. I'd recommend ‘Gusti’Restaurant and ‘Little Cafe’ restaurant. We loved our stay. Our clean room for three was just the right size, the bed was really comfortable, and room service was great. Breakfast was continental, with things like yoghurt, croissants, and fruit. Place Massena and promenade de anglais are about a 15-minute walk away.

We never even checked in. Our September 30, 2025 reservation was for one room for five people for one night, booked through Priceline, which had booked through Booking.com. The paperwork from both showed the rate and five guests. At the desk, the clerk insisted it was for four and was obnoxious, pushing us to book another room at a “sister” hotel. When Booking.com showed the clerk the reservation, and we saw it too, clearly listing five people, he changed his explanation to say it meant four adults and a child. Our credit card company had heard enough of the conversation to understand what was happening and said it shouldn't be a problem if the hotel wouldn't resolve it. After it became clear nothing would be sorted out, we left and booked somewhere else. As we were going, the clerk threatened my daughter, saying, “you won't be safe in alleys in Nice.” Some people shouldn't work with the public. I don't trust this hotel and recommend looking elsewhere.

The staff were pleasant, and our four-person suite was spacious, quiet, solid, and clean. It's not luxury, but very nice. The train station is just steps away, while the more charming coast and Old City are about a 15-minute walk. Breakfast is a basic continental buffet, though the soft-boiled eggs were a highlight. There are plenty of other breakfast spots nearby, including a scrumptious patisserie to the right of the station's exterior as you walk toward it.
