Stop here, turn slowly all the way around, and take in the atmosphere and views. It's a beautiful square. When I visited, there was a classic car rally too. Wonderful.

Look up in the square for Jaume Plensa's striking installation. Place Masséna is an iconic part of Nice, with cafes right on the plaza and shops and restaurants nearby. The black and white paving looks great against the brightly painted buildings. The old town entrance is just steps from the seaside, and the square is right there too. A must when you're in Nice!

The sculptures on the pillars are all identical, which I found really interesting, and the surroundings are beautiful. We had fantastic weather too. Walk a little farther and you'll reach Nice's Christmas spot. What a wonderful square. I can't help loving Nice!

We visited during Carnival de Nice and had a wonderful time. Everything looked beautiful, we felt safe, and the crowd behaved well. It was an excellent experience.
