Le Pavillon 7

The room was spacious by European standards, with a large bathtub and fast Wi-Fi. There’s also a big TV, though we didn’t use it. The hotel is modern and right in central Obernai, and most of the decor felt tasteful, though the pictures weren’t to my taste. Breakfast ended at 10, so we missed it. A few things could be improved. There’s no elevator, and the shower head wouldn’t stay attached in the tub, so you have to hold it while showering. It’s quite large and heavy. A fuse box made a loud humming sound, but pushing and prodding the fuses silenced it. The glass-front minibar sits at eye level and kept tempting me. Maybe that’s just me, but I found it annoying and felt like it was there to tempt guests into buying overpriced, unhealthy snacks. It’s not a bad choice, though there’s room to improve.

We had a lovely stay, and the hotel is just a few steps from the market, which is especially handy at this magical time of year in Obernai. The only disappointment was that building 7 has no elevator. The reception staff carried our luggage, which we appreciated, but having no lift was still a shame.

The breakfast at Le Colombier, across the street, was a real treat, with plenty of tasty local products. We also appreciated the very friendly welcome at the desk. Our spacious room had a fantastic bed and a handy bathroom with a bathtub, and it was completely quiet despite being right in the city center. We were really happy with our stay at Le Pavillon 7!

The buffet was well stocked, and the staff were absolutely charming. Our room was comfortable and very clean, too. We stayed two nights at Pavillon 7 in Obernai and had an excellent time. One small gripe: we went down for breakfast at 9:00 a.m. on a weekday, and there was no whole-wheat or seeded bread left, just a few slices that were quite dry. We’ll be back!
