The bed was so comfortable, and breakfast was simple but delicious. It's a charming house with a charming hostess, and the centre is just a short walk or tram ride away.

The hostess was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. My room was spotless and lovely, and there were fresh croissants every morning.

I only stayed because I had no other choice, and €70 for one person was outrageous. If you want a quiet night, look elsewhere: the tram goes right past your room. The owner could use some friendliness, which is part of running a bed and breakfast. The room was pleasant and clean, as were the shared bathrooms. Breakfast was disappointing, just bread and little samples of jam, and you weren't allowed to open more than one.

The noise made it impossible to sleep. Our room faced Avenue Dauphine, with the tram only about 10 meters away, clattering past every two minutes from 6:00 AM to midnight. Cars went fast, and with no soundproofing in the windows we could hear everything outside, as well as noises throughout the house, especially snoring from neighboring rooms. The pillows smelled strongly of sweat and seemed unwashed. Bathrooms are shared by all the rooms on the landing. The bathroom was adequate but dated, and the drains were nearly clogged, leaving water to drain very slowly. We'd been told at booking that we'd have a garden-facing room, but got one facing the street instead. The manager demanded payment in advance for the whole stay, so it felt like the experience started with a lie. The woman who lives in the house seemed suspicious to me, made unpleasant and inappropriate remarks about other guests she'd had to "put up with," and appeared to watch our every move. We figured she might have been talking about us too. She gave us a front door key and said losing it would cost 600 euros. At breakfast she stayed by our side and wouldn't let us enjoy ourselves. She wouldn't let us serve ourselves or cut the bread, told us what not to do, and pointed out the price of the small jam jars, which were the only positive part. Flies were buzzing around. If you start a conversation, she'll talk at length about herself and her problems, and it's hard to end the conversation. The nickname "Aunt Danielle" seems fitting. Better to drive a few extra miles than end up here. It's the worst place I know.
