Amerique Hotel Palavas Plage

We didn't stay at the hotel. This is about how the manager treated us when we came in off the street. The room and location scores come from other reviews. We're an older couple and had been walking for hours without seeing a taxi or public washroom. Finding a toilet had become urgent. When we entered, the manager was busy with someone at the front desk, so my partner went and found a washroom herself rather than interrupting him. When she came back, he was highly agitated and spent several minutes berating first me, then her, for using the toilet without asking. He cut me off whenever I tried to explain, and no apology seemed enough. He insisted that public washrooms and taxis were everywhere, but refused to help us find a taxi. It took us another hour to get one. People should be treated properly even when they aren't customers. I'd suggest giving your business to organizations that show everyone respect.

The hotel is in a great location, the breakfast outside is excellent, and there's nothing wrong with the place. I'd give it five stars if it cost less. The rooms could use a refresh, and the motel-style setup leaves you exposed unless you keep the shutters down.

It's in a residential area, so things are quite calm at night. I loved how welcoming the receptionist was. She was overloaded but still smiling and giving everyone great attention. The pool is in the front building called "the motel", so you have breakfast in one building and go swimming in another. It didn't bother me, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Maybe it was just my room, but there were pipes making a low noise. After a while it got annoying.

We've been coming back every year, except during COVID-19, since we first found this wonderful little gem 15 years ago. We enjoy it more and more each time. Nicolas, Anne and Charlotte are wonderful, obliging hoteliers, and they make every stay feel even more friendly. Why do we return to Palavas les Flots year after year? This hotel is the answer. The genuine French hospitality never changes, and neither does the fabulous Manager. I wish I could give them six stars.
