Mercure Paris Porte de Pantin

Our company booked this hotel for us, but I definitely wouldn’t come back. The room was extremely small, and everything looked old and dirty, especially the bathroom. We arrived at 5 and found the shower broken. The hotel has been under maintenance for over a year, and drilling and hammering went on all day when we needed to rest.

I spent the last three nights of 2025 at Mercure Pantin. I hadn’t read the reviews from the previous month before booking, which was my mistake. After reading them this morning, I understand the complaints about service and cleanliness. I’d also exchanged emails with the hotel, including top management at the Accor Group, and what happened confirmed my concerns. The service was zero. At check-in, the manager saw I was a loyal customer, but nothing had been prepared and nobody gave me any information. When I needed something, reception told me to come downstairs and collect it because there was no room service. There were always a few people at reception, while one poor Nigerian woman was running around cleaning and handling housekeeping on her own. That felt unfair to her and was terrible for customers. This is Pantin, not downtown Paris, so I can’t see why they couldn’t find time to bring something to a guest’s room. I told Ms PR I’d never return to this catastrophic hotel. I wish I’d checked the reviews before booking. To avoid wasting your time in Paris, do what I’ll do and avoid it. At Mercure Hanoï in Vietnam, I found myself wondering whether I should send Ms PR, the Hotel Manager, photos showing what hospitality looks like to me: check-in that reflects a guest’s loyalty, with full information and a homemade welcome drink; a quick check-in; a package of amenities; different pillows to suit how you sleep; a nicely equipped room; coffee and tea in the minibar; and a reminder from reception that they’ll bring whatever you need to your room.

I had a lovely stay with my daughter and friends for my special birthday. The hotel is about 30 minutes from central Paris. The reception area is lovely, and there’s a nice bar both inside and outside. Staff were friendly, housekeeping was spot on, and the rooms were clean. The cooked breakfast was decent, and I was impressed by the gluten-free cereal.

A practical choice for a business trip or a budget holiday, with laundry on site and a small gym. The rooms are run down and need refreshing. The lobby, bar, and restaurant are shared with the connected IBIS hotel, and the offering is minimal. Breakfast has a nice selection. It’s six subway stops, about 20 minutes, to the center of Paris.
