The four-poster bed was wonderfully luxurious, and the shower room had charming, quirky fittings. Our room felt cosy and looked out across fields with horses. Catherine also catered for vegetarian and gluten-free needs at dinner. We enjoyed the food and company at both dinner and breakfast, and the welcome was friendly in a peaceful location. We loved the whole stay and would recommend it.

The only slight drawback for me was that it’s a bit farther from the motorway than I’d have liked. Otherwise, this was a comfortable, straightforward overnight stop at a reasonable price. My en suite room was well equipped and, thankfully, quiet. Breakfast is well worth having, and Parentis-en-Born is an easy drive for fuel and essentials.

The breakfast was the highlight for me, freshly made by Emmanuelle each day. You can tell she puts her heart into this place. The rooms are beautifully put together, with real care and a great eye for detail, and there’s a whirlpool and free bikes for adults to enjoy the area. Children can meet the horses, cats and free-roaming chickens. The hotel is about 20 minutes from the seaside and only a few minutes from the lakes. It’s a lovely place to unwind in comfort without any luxury airs. I’ve stayed in lots of hotels around the world, but Emmanuelle’s little hotel beats them all. We’ll be back, and I wouldn’t miss a stay here.

The dogs were so well behaved, and we still didn’t want to leave. There’s plenty of parking, the rooms are lovely, and dinner was really tasty.
