Valérie Gouffe Chambres d'hôtes

I was there for a cultural event and found the place set back from the road, so it was quiet. The room and facilities were very clean. Mme Valérie G was welcoming and gave useful practical advice about things like shops. The accommodation is well equipped for eating in and has a large living room, so it felt like being at home.

It's a B&B, not a hotel, and the bathroom, kitchen and toilet are shared, but everything was clean. We had dinner on the terrace, as the hostess suggested. She was pleasant and charming, and we stayed just one night. Let the grumpy people complain, maybe they don't have as much at home and are always asking for more. I'd recommend it and come back. We booked two rooms at Valérie's for one night and felt very uncomfortable. The hostess seemed cold and unwelcoming. She didn't offer us access to the garden or living room, so we stayed shut away in our rooms. There were no bins in the bedrooms or bathroom, and her clothes were all over the place, especially on the stair railing. Very disappointing after reading the positive reviews.

The room had some thoughtful extras, organic shortbread, bottled water and neatly presented towels, and the beds were comfortable. Valérie was warm and helpful, and I found the stay very pleasant, nothing like the previous review. It's a very peaceful spot with a lovely garden.
