Best Western Hotel Opera Drouot Paris 9 (Ex-Comfort)

The location was good, and the shower worked fine, but the room was far too small for a four-night stay. There was no separate bathroom, just a sink and shower in the room. The bed was okay. We had repeated arguments about whether breakfast was included in our bill. They said it wasn’t, so I had to contact my booking agency to confirm. It wasted a lot of time. The room key card also failed, and I had to return to reception many times. When we checked out, there was another discussion about payment. I’ll never book this hotel again.

The location is perfect, and the staff are wonderful and helpful. The rooms are clean, but the listed 12 m² includes the bathroom, which leaves very little room to move around the bed. There’s a glass shower wall right in front of you, a tiny sink, and the toilet sits behind sliding doors with no ventilation. It makes the room feel cramped to live in. I stayed at the Best Western in Rome a couple of years ago, and everything there, from the room and breakfast to the staff, was perfect. This one feels less comfortable purely because of the room size.

The location was handy for seeing the sights, and the hotel is a convenient base for exploring Paris, especially on a first visit. There are loads of restaurants nearby. Our favorite by far was Lojo's, about a four-minute walk away. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had, with great service from the owner. We only ate breakfast there once, but it was very good. There were scrambled eggs, sausages, and potato balls for North American guests, as well as cheeses, salad, sliced meats, croissants, fresh breads, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea, and juice. The breakfast room was small but worked well, like our room. Everyone we dealt with was friendly. The young man who checked us in on November 12/25 was especially helpful, making sure our requests related to allergies were handled. Check-in and check-out with him were very easy.

Jade at reception made our stay unforgettable. She was there most of the time, welcomed us warmly at check-in, and was always open, friendly, and smiling. Her upbeat energy rubbed off on us, and the insider tips she shared made our time in Paris even more enjoyable. We always felt well looked after. The hotel is right in the middle of a lively area with lots of cafés and restaurants, though it’s quiet enough at night for a peaceful sleep. Our room was very clean and well maintained, and breakfast was delicious with a good variety. We had a wonderful stay and would love to come back.
