Castille Paris - Starhotels Collezione

The room was clean and pleasant, but much too small for us. It measured 115 square feet, which wouldn't be legal in most of the US, and we had even paid extra for a deluxe room. That alone means I wouldn't recommend the hotel. The location, front desk and concierge, dining room food and service were all very good to excellent, and the nightly piano player deserves special mention for being so enjoyable.

The air conditioning was broken, and at 90 F we would not have checked in if anyone had told us. We had two rooms and couldn't sleep because of the heat. The air didn't come back until 6 pm the next day. The rooms were dated and worn, more like a basic three-star hotel than a five-star one, and the bed wasn't comfortable. I was moved to a suite the following day, but it was poorly laid out with a tiny bathroom and the AC set to 22 C, which still felt hot. My daughter's room smelled of smoke. The front desk first blamed her makeup, then the toilet cleaner, both pathetic excuses. When I checked, it seemed most likely that an overworked AC system was venting into her room. I had to help her move after midnight, and we lost a second night of sleep. We checked out the next day for an actual five-star hotel. We had paid points for the next three nights in two rooms, and the hotel said they'd return them to our account, but they and I Prefer have ignored me since. We even came back to ask for the points we were promised. On September 15 they said it would be done in 30 mins, but nothing has happened. This is a run-down, reprehensible establishment with unethical management.

The buffet breakfast was sensational, the best of our whole trip, and the central location put all the sights within walking distance. My family loved Castille. The staff were amazing and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We can't wait to visit again.

I had a wonderful stay with my 11-year-old, on her first visit to Paris. The hotel had thought of the little details for her, from kid-sized slippers to child-friendly things in the bedroom. Thank you!
