Hotel de la Paix

The breakfast was good, but the room was really small and the parking was in a different building from the hotel.

The breakfast was fantastic, with loads of bread, meat, ham, cereal, tea, and coffee. The dining area is small, and the staff were polite and friendly. It’s a quaint place with tidy, clean rooms that aren’t huge. Good location too, with a bus stop and metro nearby and a pub opposite.

The room was a decent size for Paris, and the AC was amazing, especially for someone from the US. We had a firm bed with no flat sheet, though we’d heard that wasn’t usual in France and hoped we’d get lucky. The neighborhood is quiet and quaint, and the hotel is a reasonable distance from the main sights, so it works for a budget trip. The WiFi was great, too. I’d give it 3 1/2 stars. On our last morning, the fire alarm rang for 10 minutes at 7 AM, which was super annoying. At checkout, the woman at the front desk tried to charge us for two breakfasts even though we hadn’t eaten there at all. She checked with another woman, who said we’d had breakfast the day before. We weren’t made to pay, but the whole thing felt very off putting when we hadn’t even come close to getting breakfast there.

The room was simple and clean, on a quiet street but close to the metro. There was also a store and a bread place nearby. My only possible complaint is the mineral buildup on the shower heads, which kept the water from running as well. I liked the place and would stay again.
