The people at reception really made this place for us. All four we met were lovely, and Marie was a favorite. The night porter was the sweetest man, and honestly, everyone was excellent. Our corner room had a balcony looking over Rivoli, a market square, and the restaurants. The quirky rooms look just like the photos, and we loved all the maximalist decor. The bathroom had clearly just been redone and was spotless, though there was a strong paint smell. It wasn't a big problem and should pass soon. The bed was much more comfortable than we'd expected at this price. Making a drink with the kettle was a little awkward because its cord was short and the table was high. You're right by two metro stations and close to Notre Dame cathedral, on the edge of Le Marais. The entrance from the street looked a bit shabby, squeezed between a restaurant and a shop, and it's not the flashiest boutique hotel. Still, the place has loads of charm. For this price range, I don't think we'd look anywhere else in Paris.

Staying in a classic old Parisian building right in the heart of the city made this a great choice for us. It was easy to get around, and the hotel itself felt quiet, peaceful, and comfortable. It isn't aimed at people looking for luxury or top-end comfort. I'd especially recommend it to first-time visitors who want to get a feel for Paris.

We were looking forward to coming back, but a group of RATP inspectors fined us 70eur, even though we had a valid metro ticket. After that, we won't return to Paris. Before that, we had a wonderful weekend here. Notre Dame is a few minutes away on foot, and the safe-feeling neighborhood has charming cafes and vintage stores. The staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was small, as you'd expect in Paris, but exceptionally clean, dreamily decorated, and quiet. We slept really well.

The double bed and shower cubicle were a little small, but that's a minor quibble and not enough to lose a star over. The restaurant downstairs was very good, open early and late, and there are plenty of easy breakfast options nearby, including the little cafe across the square, a boulangerie, and a bagel shop. The location is hard to beat: interesting shops, the Louvre, Tuileries, Notre Dame, and plenty of other well-known places are all within walking distance.

We had a great stay in the Marais. The room was crisp and clean, and the team were really friendly and helpful. There’s an elevator for luggage. Room 1 was comfortable and had a nice balcony for people watching.
