Hotel Ambre

The few things that worked for me were the coffee machine downstairs, which was included, the included parking, and having a fridge. Beyond that, the stay was a mess. Mold was growing around the room, sticky patches were everywhere, and cockroaches were wandering around, including on the bed. I wouldn't stay more than one night, and even then, you can judge for yourself. The room was poorly cleaned and looked nothing like the online photos in terms of hygiene. Housekeeping seemed to remake the bed and empty the trash; even changed sheets had visible marks and stains. The kitchenette was sticky and dirty when we arrived, the induction stove barely worked, and the pans looked like they came from an abandoned student dorm. I tried cleaning it myself, but should have called someone upstairs. The wall temperature control was just decoration, and the AC didn't work. Reception was another problem. The staff barely spoke English, and raising issues got me nowhere. I almost didn't post this, but the interaction with the man at the end changed my mind. It's hard to complain when management seems uninterested in listening. For a place claiming three stars, basic hygiene and comfort were nowhere near the mark. If I'd known, I'd have gone straight to the Ibis across the street. It might scrape by as a two-star hotel, but management clearly doesn't understand or care about hospitality. If cleanliness, comfort, or a good night's sleep matter to you, stay somewhere else. This place falls far short of three-star standards.

The hotel is in China Town, where there isn't a lot to do. The area itself wasn't too bad, though nearby areas weren't good. We could hear the street clearly, and the rooms had no soundproofing at all. We even heard a phone vibrating in the room above. We were given a bigger room as an 'upgrade,' but no one mentioned it was right above the entrance. All night we heard people going out to smoke and talk. Inside, the room was in poor condition: there was a cockroach, a broken mirror, loose wallpaper, and a shower door that wouldn't close. They advertise free parking, but it's a public garage with a few spaces anyone can use, not a reserved spot as the website suggests. The garage is very tight and difficult to drive through. You take a ticket, and someone from the hotel walks with you after checkout so parking is free until then. After checkout, you pay the regular rate.

We were happy with the room and would probably book it again. The hotel is in a nice spot, not too far from the Eiffel Tower, and we stayed just one night with my husband. A big thank-you to the team, they were the best. Parking is free, but you have to leave a €50 deposit and get it back at checkout.

The service here was horrible. My boyfriend and I were in room 102 on August 14, 2025, and after several nights of poor sleep I asked for a separate room. At around 10 pm, the receptionist said only one room was left, so I paid for room 402. An alarm went off about every five minutes. I found that the microwave was in error, and I couldn't turn it off. It was so loud and kept going, so I went back to sleep with my boyfriend in room 102. I asked the receptionist for my money back because the situation was unacceptable. She said she couldn't do anything and told me to wait for her colleague at 7 am. He also couldn't help and said I had to email my complaint. I sent three emails with a photo of the error and a recording of the alarm, but never got a reply. I'm really sad about it.
