Hotel de Menilmontant

The room and bathroom were clean, and the metro is just a minute away. The walls are thin, so hallway noise carries, and the curtains let in the early morning light. The pillow wasn’t very comfortable either. Still, it’s a decent budget choice for the price.

It’s only our first night, and we’ve already been shocked by this place. The room is cramped and hard to move around in, and the beds had bugs, so we couldn’t sleep at all and ended up staying awake while searching for another hotel. Service has been average at best. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

We ended up here at 11pm after the apartment we’d rented fell through when we arrived in Paris. Even though we didn’t speak the same language, the staff helped us get a room and were very accommodating. The people were lovely, and so was the cat wandering around the lobby. Our room was small but just right for two, with a lofted sleeping area separate from the seating and luggage space. It looked like the rooms had been recently remodeled, with nice lighting and new bathrooms. Menilmontant Metro station is right nearby, and the main sights are about 30 minutes away by train. There are also plenty of restaurants, cafes, and bars in the neighborhood. We had a wonderful stay.

I was a little worried after reading the reviews, but everything was fine. They changed our towels daily, and the hotel is very close to metro line 2. Good value for the price.
