Hôtel des Pyrénées - Nation

We eventually got a second room after going downstairs to tell the receptionist what was wrong. It was better, with a normal shower, and looked somewhat renovated. The first room was nasty: holes in the floor, dirty stains all over the bed, and a dirty, stained shower. People were smoking in the room next door, and when I opened the window for fresh air, their smoke came straight in through their open window. The walls are hollow, so you can hear everything the neighbours say. The smell hit as soon as we entered the hotel, like a sewer in reception, and the old, ragged elevator and every floor smelled the same. I know it's a 2 star hotel, but when you're still paying a lot of money, you expect at least a clean room. That wasn't what we got. Even after moving rooms, I felt robbed. I hope this isn't the standard in Paris, but next time I'd rather stay a day or two less and book a 4 star hotel. Hotel des Pyrenees, please do something about the smell.
