Hôtel Etats-Unis Opéra

We’ve just come back from our second visit, and I’m sure we’ll book again when we’re next in Paris. The family suite was a good size and perfectly clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location worked really well for us, close to restaurants in the opera district and a short walk from the river and museums. Breakfast was lovely too, especially for my daughter, who loves the pancakes.

In January, I arranged for friends to pick up the bag I’d lost at the hotel when I left in September. They were turned away, despite staff having explicitly promised to keep it for a year so I could collect it at any time during that period. One staff member went to look in the basement and never came back. My friends waited almost an hour and left without the bag. An Asian staff member repeatedly said no such promise had been made and seemed to pretend not to understand. She even needed a French colleague to help work out how many months had passed since September. I find it concerning that hotel staff either can’t or won’t communicate effectively with guests. The bag’s monetary value isn’t the point. What matters is that a promise from staff should be honored, and shouldn’t be made if the hotel won’t keep it. This was deeply disappointing and nowhere near the standard I’d expect from a four-star hotel.

After four nights in early December, we’ve got nothing but good things to say. Stephanie and Sue at reception were extremely helpful and nice, the room was lovely, and breakfast tasted great. The location couldn’t have been better. We’d love to return. Highly recommended, and thank you.

I slept unusually well for Paris, it was such a quiet evening. The breakfast is a must, too. The staff, service, facilities, and room were all excellent, and you can walk to the Louvre, Palais Garnier, Notre Dame, and the shops from this hidden gem in the heart of the city. Thanks, I’ll stay here again on future visits to my favorite city.
