Hôtel Jean Bart

Everyone at the front desk and on staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and helpful. The location is excellent, close enough to major attractions to walk or take a quick metro ride, but in a quieter, local-feeling area. Hotel Jean Bart is a good budget option if you keep your expectations simple. It’s very no-frills, but it does the job. The rooms are small, which is typical for Paris, and you’ll be fine if you’re prepared for that. I chose a non-smoking room, but still noticed a bit of smoke, something to keep in mind if you’re coming from the U.S., where I’d forgotten European hotels may still have smoking and non-smoking rooms. It was a solid, affordable stay in a great part of the city.

Breakfast kept me going each day, with a wide choice of hot drinks, juice, flaky croissants, and fresh, warm baguettes. The breakfast room staff were courteous and attentive. The location is fantastic, close to Montparnasse and Jardin du Luxembourg, with a grocery store right across the street. I spent a delightful week at Hôtel Jean Bart. My first-floor room seemed recently renovated, and it was clean, charming, and a great value at around €185 a night. As a solo traveler, I found the space perfect, though a couple might feel cramped. The double bed was comfortable, though it could breathe better, as I got a bit warm at night. For an older hotel, the bathroom was a pleasant surprise, with excellent water pressure and steady hot water. During my stay in late September and early October, the room temperature was easy to manage by opening or closing the window. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

The room had what we needed, and we loved the windows. The staff were courteous and breakfast was great. It’s a very nice, convenient location, close to good metro lines.

We mostly use a hotel as a place to sleep since we're out exploring early, so this one worked well for us. It's a small, family-run place in a perfect spot, with a bakery just around the corner and a little grocery store across the street that we went to often. Our triple room was clean, though it could use an update; we also saw workers doing renovations. It isn't luxurious, but it was fine for resting at night and left us money for the things we wanted to do in Paris.
