Hôtel Montpellier

The room was like a sauna in the 33° heat, and there was no AC. The bathroom was far too small, and the shower door wouldn't even close. The location is good, right next to the Louvre.

The staff were really nice, and the hotel is modest but pleasant, with a great location and good connections. My room doors opened straight onto the outside, so it was a bit cold in cool weather. Light sleepers should know that water runs loudly through the pipes when someone showers in another room.

The room was clean, but the walls and floor seemed to be sinking and close to moulding. We had a very small double bed in a tiny box room, which felt pretty bad for 59 euros. There were people we thought were drug users in the room next to us. The area felt dangerous, with thieves and scammers around, and the toilet was shared. It wasn't a very pleasant stay, though for the price I expected as much.

The hotel is clean, in a safe area, and very affordable, with a metro station right next door. You can take the metro to the Eiffel Tower for 1.9 Euro, the minimum fare. I had to change my booking from three nights to one because I wasn't sure about my travel. When I tried to book another night, the hotel was full, so I stayed at a place 600 m away. It was congested, expensive, and in a very unsafe area. The next day I came to Montpellier and really regretted cancelling that first night. I also want to apologize to the management for forgetting to hand over the keys in the morning when I was rushing to catch my flight.
