Hotel Saint Louis Pigalle

We both slept really well, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room controls were easy to use, and the bathroom was modern and clean, with an excellent rain shower as well as a regular one. There was sometimes a bad smell in the bathroom, apparently due to building work. It wasn’t a real problem once we covered the drain with a folded towel. We’ll be back and recommend it to our friends.

The room was so quiet that we could sleep with the window open and hear no city noise. The location is convenient for transit, within a reasonable walk of the best of Montmartre, yet still peaceful. The staff were friendly and responsive. They arranged transportation, gave us recommendations, and even made sure the items I’d left in the safe got back to me.

The room looked fine, the bed was comfortable, and the shower had very hot water, but I couldn’t get the rest or sleep I was paying $$$ for. The A/C never worked during our three nights on the fourth floor. Staff comments made it clear they knew the whole building had A/C problems. They kept saying it was being looked into, but it was never fixed. We had to sleep with the windows open and the raucous pedestrians kept us up all night. Pigalle’s red light district never sleeps. Closing the windows just left us with the heat. The fan they eventually gave us smelled so strongly of burning plastic that we had to switch it off. Breakfast wasn’t good either: the scrambled eggs tasted like powdered eggs, and the bacon and ham were undercooked. The elevator and hallways were tight. Location, ambiance, and staff count for little when you can’t sleep. I wouldn’t recommend it.

It’s a boutique-style hotel near the Moulin Rouge. Breakfast is on the expensive side, so hey, you’re in Paris, go out for a croissant and cafe latte! The Musee du louvre, Musee d’Orly, and Notre Dame are all nearby, with easy access to the metro and Uber.
