The whole place smelled of urine, from the room and bathroom to the hallway and car park. The toilet was stained and almost made me throw up. There was a bug on my toothbrush head, so I had to throw it away, and the towels and sheets weren’t clean. Staff were extremely rude. Even after I got home, the urine smell seemed stuck in my clothes, and I had to wash them multiple times. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. Check the reviews before booking. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one to have a terrible time at this musty hotel. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, and it wasn’t worth it at all. I hope it gets shut down.
The name “budget” says it all. This is barely acceptable for a few days, and only if you find a rate below 70 bucks. The mattress was cheap but more comfortable than I expected, and the cleaning was good. The towels needed replacing. The toilet was a single piece of plastic with no cover or tablet, and it often clogged after flushing solids. One elevator was out of service, and the stairwell door, which is a safety door, was hard to open. It can get noisy with so many guests moving through the corridors, around 60 rooms per floor. There’s not much nearby apart from the tram or metro. Staff try to do a good job, but at least the night shift needs proper professional training.
Breakfast was actually alright, with some hot drinks available, though a few dishes and utensils hadn’t been washed properly. Our room was cleaned every day, which was a plus. The staff seemed alright too. We were a class of students from Germany and ended up here because the hotel where we were meant to stay had some kind of power outage. There were several serious problems in the room: the bathroom and shower were two separate little spaces, and neither door had a lock. We also saw multiple cockroaches. Someone screamed every night for some reason. The hotel is close to Garibaldi and relatively close to Porte de Saint-Ouen and Porte de Clignancourt. To get to the latter two, you’ll probably have to go through the flea market, which made me uncomfortable. The area is generally filthy. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all. Look elsewhere, or you’ll probably regret staying here.
We stayed for a week over Easter and were very happy with the hotel. It’s in a rougher part of the city, so if litter and homeless people on the nearby streets bother you, you may prefer somewhere else. My family of three never felt in danger, though. The room was good but basic, and public transport made it easy to get to the sights. The local takeaways and cafes were excellent too. If you want a cheap and cheerful stay, this place works well.
The location and service were good, but we didn’t get any rest. The alarm woke us three times in the middle of the night. Many people were smoking outside, which was why it went off, and we couldn’t sleep. There were lots of tissues on the ground, and it felt humiliating to walk on a sticky floor. The rooms weren’t good, and it was not a good place to stay.
