Le Stendhal - Vendôme

The price felt too high for the hotel’s standard. I’ve stayed at other four-star McGallery Hotels in different locations, and they were much better than this one in Paris. The location itself is practical, but our room was beside the elevator, so we heard it running throughout the day and evening. There was construction on the same street, and we could hear that from the room too. One day we got back around 2 pm and it still hadn’t been cleaned. The stay was disappointing.

The rooms were so comfortable that, compared with the five-star hotel we’d stayed in the night before, they had nothing to envy. The beds were comfortable, the showers had great pressure, and our limited interactions with staff were very good. The location is handy for the higher-end shops, Pace Vendôme, and plenty of attractions within walking distance. We spent two nights here. The main drawback was the front door: it isn’t automated, and as night owls we often had to wait outside to be let in, including when we wanted to go out late. All in all, we’d definitely come back.

The location is top notch, right near everything in the centre. The room was clean and tidy, and a little more spacious than at other Paris hotels. Breakfast felt limited, though, so we ate there only once and went out for it the other days. I’d recommend the hotel, but wouldn’t book breakfast since there are lots of cafes nearby.

The bed was comfortable and I slept well. Breakfast was great each morning and came out quickly. There was a leak in the bathroom, but they fixed it quickly and efficiently. The hotel is well placed for walking to the main sights. The room was quite clean, though on the small side, and the bathroom was clean too. The bathtub and shower sit pretty high, so they could be hard to get into if you have knee or mobility issues. I had a nice stay and would happily come back.
